Dr. Sabrina D. Volpone is a tenured associate professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Texas at Dallas’ Jindal School of Management. Previously, she was a tenured professor at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business where she served as the doctoral program coordinator for the Organizational Leadership and Information Analytics division. She obtained her Ph.D. in Human Resource Management from the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Dr. Volpone’s research uses both qualitative and quantitative methodology to develop and test theory about sociolinguistic practices in institutions. Specifically, her work on discursive practices examines how organizations use language to construct social realities that reproduce or dismantle power, identity, and cultural norms within workplaces. Then, her research on narrative practices investigates how individuals use language to manage their identities in workspaces. Whenever possible, her work uses a partnered research approach with participants so that the lived experiences of traditionally under-represented employees are highlighted in her research projects.

Dr. Volpone’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, among others. This work has been featured by Harvard Business Review, CNN Business, CNBC, U.S. News and World ReportThe Boston Globe, and has received international press coverage through the Toronto StarABC News Australia, and coverage from the London School of Economics. She presents her research at professional conferences, including the Academy of Management (AOM).

Her recent research has been funded nationally by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), the Management Education Research Institute, and internationally by universities in Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Further, Sabrina has been a part of multiple consulting teams for organizations such as ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco that maintain a presence atop the Fortune 500 and Fortune Global 500 lists. Through these consulting experiences, she has contributed extensively to several job analysis projects and technical reports.
